Name of film (by joe) wip

We had several name choices for our film, such a 'Bully' or 'Tormented' but the latter sounded more like a horror related genre which is not our genre. Our genre is a drama which is how we came up with our title of 'enough is enough' because the main character Mary has had enough of her suffering and bullying. Enough is enough is open to different interpretations, especially with the ending as the audience can think for themselves about what will happen next....

Creating the production company logos (by Josie)

We made our production company's logo using LiveType which we then imported into our Final Cut sequence. We decided to do two producuton company logo's, one called 'Shock Media' and 'Bridge Productions'. We chose the name 'Shock Media' because our sequence is quite shocking and serious, and the name entitles an array of opinions to be discovered before the opening sequence has even begun. We chose the background of a brick wall, because it builds up an urban theme, which relates to our sequence in many ways. We came up with 'Bridge Productions' as it foreshadows events that are going to take place in our seqeunce. Both companies seem to sound professional and are very realistic, as opposed to something like 'Unicorn Faces Media'. We did consider a third production company title, but thought otherwise as we thought two company titles were enough.

Editing Screenshots (by Josie)

The first screenshot is of us deciding on fonts for the credits and of us adding the credits to our opening sequence. We chose this font as it looks like handwriting, which refers to our main character writing the letter and illustrating her innocence.
This is a screenshot of our final timeline. You can see all the different shots and editing techniques we have used, including our fades which establish a flashback or a change of day.
This is a screenshot of us splitting a shot which was too long and that we only needed a short part of. This is a shot of the brother (James) walking into Mary's bedroom after she has rushed into the house after a really tough day, and we chose to split this sequence of video as we only needed a little part of it.

Over the course of the last few weeks, we have learned how to use Final Cut Express and also different attributes to it. Such as the use of different video transitions (for example fade in, fade out etc) and also learning the basics of editing and keep it continuous.

Editing Process: (By Josie)

We begun our editing by uploading all the footage we had shot, which we then split into smaller clips to properly begin piecing our sequence together. We then referred back to our story boards to decide what clips were going to go where. This all then will eventually lead to our completed opening sequence.
We decided to use fades as it showed a flashback or a change in time/location. This compels the audience to understand why Mary is doing what she is doing. We chose to have a voiceover of Mary speaking about her emotions instead of actual speech within the sequence. The voiceover has an echoed effect which reflects on her distant mind and character.

Film inspirations- Teenage Drama. (So far).

- It's kind of a funny story (Film) 2010.
- Cyberbully (T.V film) 2011.
- Panorama (T.V Drama) 2012.
- Waterloo Road (T.V Drama) 2006 onwards.
- Bully (Film) 2001.
- Mean Girls (Film) 2004.
- Mean Girls 2 (Film) 2011.

Our inspiration for this opening sequence was taken from many controversial issues escalating in today's society. We researched bullying films and T.V shows which then led us to create our opening sequence. The reasons for choosing this topic were:
- It's interesting and spine tingling
- Engages the audience with any given situation
- Creates sympathy with the audience
- It's a relatable topic and
- Makes good T.V (as shown above with successful T.V shows and Films)

Location shots, day 4.

These are the bridges that we considered for our opening sequence. The first bridge was a good location because it's very quiet place which would make it easier to film and from a characters prespective no-one would suspect her attempt to commit suicide. However, the bridge was too high and therefore the audience wouldn't be able to tell excactly what is happening. The second location was a lot easier to film as it was over a railway and it put across a dangerous feel bcause it was also next to a busy road.

Day 4 of filming.

How our opening fits with its genre.

The genre of our film opening is Drama.

Drama films usually deal with everyday struggles of real people and emotional themes.
Dramatic themes such as alcoholism, drug addiction, moral dilemmas, racial prejudice, religious intolerance, poverty, class divisions, violence against women and corruption put the characters in conflict with themselves, others and society.
We feel that our film fits in with this Genre because its about a girl who is being bullied and struggles to get through her life.
At the center of a drama is usually a character or characters who are in conflict at a crucial moment in their lives, Mary is this character.

Day 3 of filming

Day 3 of filming:
In these pictures you can see one of our locations, being (Josie's) house and bedroom. We chose this loction as it seems to be very girlie and fits the character profile of Mary. These photos were taken by every person in our group so that we all participated in our film productions. We have used many different locations to display every aspect of Mary's life and the build up to her decision of committing suicide. The reason we took digital photos was so that we could show our still images of what we were recording and to show what we were all doing.

This is our initial storyboard. We talked about our individual ideas for the project and then we put them all together into this storyboard, to give us a rough outline to what we are going to put in our opening sequence. We have made some slight changes.
